The Arrival

7:15pm: The North Central Concert Choir of 40 students met at O'Hare Airport to check-in and amake our way through security to the International Terminal. Our choir tour to Italy had officialy begun.

Making our way through security was long and laborious, but painless and uneventful. We all made it to the gate in plenty of time and in high spirits. Excitment rippled throughout the choir as we imagined the adventures ahead.

9:30pm: The boarding process commenced. We all lined up, moving to our seats like obedient cattle, snuggling into our seats for the flight that would serve as our night.

Once in the air, students became engrossed in the many entertainment options offered on flights: Tv shows, moveis, games, music and even a late night dinner. But, despite all of the wonderful options, we slowly fell asleep.

After a quasi-restful night, we landed in London at Heathrow Airport. We transferred planes here and enjoyed the presence of heavy British accents. But, after a few hours wait, we were back in the air toward Italy!

My seat was right in front of a mother with a baby. And not just any baby, a 'scream-as-loud-as-possible' baby. Needless to say, this was a very long flight for most of us. Thank God for earplugs!

And then it happened: we landed. We got off the plane, made our way to the baggage claim and through customs. The moment we had all been waiting for had finally arrived. The slidding doors opened, and we walked out into the warm afternoon air. It was around 4:00pm and we were finally experiencing Italy.

The wait is over. We are here!

We boarded our bus with our wonderful tour guide Laura and made our way to the hotel. After resing and hanging out, we all got together for our first meal in Italy: delicious pasta, savory chicken, flavorful potatoes and a yummy apple-chocolate dessert. Needless to say, it was scrumptious!

Now we are dragging our weary bodies to bed in preparation  for our 6:30am wake up in order to travel to the Vatican City where we will preform at St. Peter's. I am off to get some shut-eye!

Goodnight!
